(...) „Along Rakoczy’s path to increasing abstraction in her works, the line is no longer there to represent some form,
but has developed into an anchor for a much more abstract composition. Despite its inherent dynamic, it grounds works
of delicate color layers that would, were they left alone, dissipate into an essential space. Rakoczy’s line offers a frame, bridges the space between to individual elements, creates order and defines hierarchies.
The other element is color, to be more precise, fields of color. We have already defined them as delicate. There are
countless layers of color that intertwine with the slightest nuances into a dense tapestry. Romy Rakoczy spends hours
with these virtually translucent layers of soft tones that merge to become a kind of skin. The transparent clouds and amorphous shapes that are created have a levity and elegance that insinuates simple life forms (this is the point where it becomes evident how far the artist has left the traditional street art behind her). This layered painting process begins
with the priming of the canvas, should this even take place. The preparation and the following work on the canvas
are not just a technical process that is necessary to paint these images; they are more like ritual acts necessary to bring
the painting to life.“ (...)
